Simone Brillarelli
Simone Brillarelli was born in Florence in 1982 and lives and works between Florence and Milan, the city where he settled to embrace a broader artistic dimension. He is a visual artist, illustrator, art director and 2D animator, with a creativity deeply linked to electronic music: he played in bands and worked as a producer for an independent label.
Brillarelli works with a line that does not seem to want to be perfect, but rather human. Often in his works you can perceive the lightness of a "pencil" drawing, a graphite that is never fully completed, but that holds the emotion of the moment.
This approach creates a sense of fragility and intimacy in her images, as if they were visions taken from a personal visual diary. In her works, the flower is never decoration. It is a metaphor for identity, memory and transformation.
Stylized, “drained”, imperfect flowers: they are the fragments of an interior garden, the reflection of a beauty that does not want to be held back but let go, like a fading thought.
Despite the apparent spontaneity, each sign is the result of a balance between control and instinctive gesture. In his “Private Garden” vases, the mixed technique of engobes and glazes is linked to an idea of decoration as a spontaneous act, never static. The dripping flower, the smudging line, are part of the truth of the sign.
Brillarelli often imagines suspended spaces, out of time: private gardens, deconstructed portraits, textures like graphic fossils. His poetics does not describe, but evokes, leaving the viewer the task of completing the image with his own sensitivity.
